Maria Florez-Martin

PhD student at UCL, Division of Surgery and Interventional Science, 9th floor, Royal Free Hospital, NW3 2PF.

My PhD focuses on the use of silicate-based bioactive glasses for the treatment of bisphosphonate-induced medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw. I currently work on in-vitro bone formation models, evaluating mineralisation (Alizarin Red and high-resolution imaging), bone topography (interferometry), metabolic activity, proliferation, protein expression, gene expression, ROS production, chemical composition (RAMAN), and others.
