Current research centres on bone quality: the material and structural basis of bone strength.   We applying state of the art imaging techniques to visualise the hierarchical structure of bone at the gross, micron and nano levels e.g. synchotron micro-CT and X-ray diffraction.  The metrics are used to study the effect of ageing and assess the effect of pharmacological agents on bone health – e.g. bisphosphonates and cancer therapies.
