Current research centres on bone quality: the material and structural basis of bone strength.  State of the art imaging techniques are used to visualise the hierarchical structure of bone at the gross, micron and nano levels – e.g. synchotron micro-CT and X-ray diffraction.  Metrics are employed to study the effects of ageing and assess the effects of pharmacological agents on bone health – e.g. bisphosphonates and cancer therapies.
